Born around 1879 in Ober-Seemen, Gedern, Wetteraukreis, Hesse, Germany to Sophie and Levy (Lesky) Zimmermann.
Several U.S. Censuses list Jennie’s arrival date as either 1885 or 1887 (age 6 or 8), but the name Jennie Zimmermann, with the correct age, also appears on the list of passengers accompanying her future husband, Nathan Zimmermann, on the ship “Suevia” in 1893 (age 13). As the two were first cousins and Nathan came with no known immediate family members, it is possible that the Jennie listed therein is the same as this Jennie.
In 1900 (age 21), Jennie was living with her parents in Manhattan. Also in the household were a retinue of other Zimmermanns, some of whom seem to be her siblings, others of whom seem to be her cousins. A Nathan Zimmerman is listed, but his age is 10 years too old to be her future husband. However, it could simply be a mistake of the census taker.
Married Nathan Zimmermann on 8 December 1901 in Manhattan. They were first cousins.
Thus far, no information about Jennie’s death has been discovered.
